Paralegal & Interpreter
Maria Van Duser is a Litigation Paralegal and Spanish Interpreter for the office. She was born and raised in Mexico City, Mexico. She is fluent in Spanish and English and is able to effortlessly serve as an interpreter and liaison for our Spanish speaking clients throughout the life of a case. She has an AAS Degree in Paralegal Studies and is a member in good standing of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations (NFPA).
Maria has a history of serving the underserved. She worked for the Hiscock Legal Aid Society as a Domestic Violence Paralegal where her bilingual skills were essential for enabling the agency to carry out its mission of providing legal services to those in need. While with Hiscock Legal Aid, she interpreted for Spanish speaking clients both in-house and in court.
Maria has also served in the clinical medical field where for 10 years she worked as a Spanish speaking Chemical Dependency Therapist. During these years, she was able to use the skills gained while obtaining her post-graduate degree from the University of Mexico in Clinical Psychology. As part of her work in this field, Maria was able to create and implement addiction programs for major clinics, hospitals and agencies to serve Spanish speaking communities.
Maria has served on the board of the Onondaga County Bar Association for Legal Assistants. She has worked as a Legal, Medical and Corporate Interpreter and Translator. She has served as a registered court expert in Mexico in the area of Forensic Psychology, and has also been a registered interpreter for the FBI.
Maria is married to Kevin and they enjoy working and raising their family together. She is the mother of two beautiful girls, Camilla Marie and Gianna Alexandra, and an adorable mini golden doodle, Papi. Maria stays active with swimming, yoga, bicycling, and gym workouts.
